Garage door panel and section replacement
A single damaged section can be swapped for $340 to $820, provided the door model is still made and the color still matches. On doors past about fifteen years that's often not the case, and we'll tell you straight away whether a section is realistic before you spend anything.
Repair or replace the whole door
The deciding question is whether the section can be sourced. Manufacturers discontinue panel profiles, and a door from the 1990s frequently can't be matched. A close-but-not-quite panel in the middle of a door looks worse than the dent did.
The second question is where the damage is. A dented top section is cosmetic. A bottom section that's rusted through is structural, because that's where the lift cables anchor.
As a rough comparison, one section runs $340 to $820 against $1,450 to $3,900 for a new door installed. Two damaged sections on an older door usually tips the decision.
Bottom sections and corrosion
The bottom of a door is what fails first, and the reason is dwell time rather than weather events. Overnight humidity here sits in the mid to high seventies and drops into the low fifties by early afternoon, and a closed door standing on a damp slab keeps its bottom few inches wet through that cycle for a large part of the year.
By the time it shows on the outside, the inside skin and the bottom bracket area are usually further along. That's the check we do first.

Questions we get asked
A car backed into my door. Can just that panel be replaced?
If the model is still made and the finish still matches, yes. If it isn't, a mismatched panel in the middle of the door is a poor outcome and a new door is the better spend. We'll find out which before quoting.
The bottom of my door is rusted. Is that just cosmetic?
Not usually. The bottom section carries the bottom brackets where the lift cables anchor, so corrosion there is a load-bearing problem rather than a paint problem.
